Sawdust Sessions

After trying to conduct thorough demonstrations of woodturning projects at our regular meetings, we learned that we needed a longer period of time to do a good job.

In order to provide sufficient time for a complete turning demonstration, we decided to conduct some off-site sessions.

We have called them, Sawdust Sessions.

These are off-site turning demonstrations, conducted at a volunteering member's shops. These sessions are organized by the volunteering member so they are done on the member's schedule and are focused on the topic of the member's choice. Remember that many of the members are retired so these sessions don't need to be on Weekends.

We are always looking for new volunteers, so if you'd like to host a Sawdust Session, let everyone know by using the Member's Email list or announce them at one of our meetings. The Webmaster will also add them to this page for everyone to see!

Steve Patzman announces that he will have a sawdust session at his house on April 26, Saturday morning, 9 a.m. till noon.

Subject:  Coring bowl blanks using different methods.

Please bring your system to the session.  I have a tool rest post that is 1
inch.  The threads on my lathe are 1 1/4 x 8 TPI.

Please bring a piece of wood that has a 1 inch tenon on it (between 3 and 3
1/2 inches in diameter or an appropriate size face plate attached)  This is
so we don't spend a lot of time preparing the outside of the biggest bowl
before we core.

I will also have 2 mini lathes set up for people to turn on while we core.

There will be no limit to the number of people that can come.  We will give
everyone a chance to core a bowl or two.  However, please let me know if you
are coming and if you are bringing a coring system.

At the meeting we had at least 3 systems mentioned.

See you their.  Bring you own coffee or what ever to drink.
